promoted by the Mexican wrestling promotion World Wrestling Association
(WWA) from 1987 until 1995. Being a professional wrestling championship it is not won legitimately; it is instead won via a scripted ending to a match or awarded to a wrestler because of a storyline. The official definition of the Welterweight weight class in Mexico is between 63 kg (138.9 lb) and 70 kg (154.3 lb), but the weight limits are not always strictly adhered to.The most recent case of this is Mephisto
