History

Original call letters were WTWT when it signed on in 1948, Then WSPT, For many years broadcasting a Top-40 format. In late 1977 the station began airing a country music format as WXYQ, dropping its simulcast with WSPT-FM. The station then became WSPO on 1988-05-30. on 1996-07-06, the station changed its call sign back to the current WSPT.
