On October 16, 2008, WHVL broadcast a live debate featuring all of the candidates of the 5th Congressional District running in the 2008 election. The station now features a monthly news magazine show "The Centre Of It All" hosted by Jed Donahue. Over the ten-week 2009 and 2010 regular high school football seasons, WHVL covered local games each Friday evening with the "Varsity Football Game of the Week".
