 WCDB's programming includes a wide range of music, news, sports and public affairs programs. WCDB underwent extensive renovations in late May 2007 and returned to its regular program schedule later that year on November 16.

The station has a website with streaming capabilities and is now airing worldwide.

History

WCDB is the broadcast radio station of SUNY Albany. WCDB's format is primarily music. WCDB serves as a venue for matters that are relevant to continued public discourse regarding issues of social importance. The underpinning rasion d'etre for the existence of a student radio station is to provide a viable alternative to mainstream discourse and mass culture.

Renovation of Spring 2011

The renovation of Spring 2011 consisted of several equipment upgrades and new installations as well as repurposing of existing station facilities.
  • The Broadcast studio was moved to the defunct AM studio space which had fallen into junk storage.
  • The old broadcast studio space was repurposed for recording and production with two 8+8 Pro Tools interfaces and WCDB's first proper DAW along with a full gamut of microphones.
  • IP connections were installed in the transmitter site and a computer installed to allow much better monitoring and control of transmitter equipment.
  • Tieline audio codecs were installed at the studio and transmitter site to bypass the old and failing copper lines installed in the early 80s
  • A new digital emergency alert system was installed to comply with the new EAS-CAP.
  • A new IP remote broadcast system was introduced to phase out the old POTS system.
