The European version, with exceptions for the French and Turkish market, includes a standard ESP

It has a length of 4.384 m (172.6 in), increased wheelbase (2.552m) and ground clearance (168-170mm), and has one petrol (1.6 L, 4 cylinder, 105 PS; coupled with either 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox) and one diesel engine (1.6 L, turbocharged 4 cylinder common rail, 105 PS; only 5-speed manual gearbox) options available.  which is very popular in India. Special features have been presented in the top variant such as the ability to adjust the front passenger seat from the rear of the car. The Vento sedan overtook its main rival the Honda City.. The Vento features 1.6 litre petrol and diesel engines compared to the 1.2 litre units found in the Polo in India.

The car is also manufactured and sold in Russia as Volkswagen Polo Sedan with only the petrol engine available.

North American release

With initial reports stating a North American release of the Polo, Volkswagen of America officially announced there are no plans for a sub-compact model to be sold in North America in the near future.
