. Her husband is also a doctor. They have three children.
She studied maths and economics at Trinity College, Cambridge

Before being elected to the European Parliament in 2009, she was a local councillor in South Cambridgeshire
. She was also the Conservative candidate in the 2005 general election
for Birmingham Northfield, within which lies the plant of MG Rover.
