Vascular ring connector
Encyclopedia
Vascular ring connector is a licensed medical implant in the United States and Taiwan. It is a titanic ring used as a stent in the vascular graft to achieve a quick, blood-sealed, and sutureless anastomosis
Anastomosis
An anastomosis is the reconnection of two streams that previously branched out, such as blood vessels or leaf veins. The term is used in medicine, biology, mycology and geology....

. There are two furrows on the surface of the ring: the narrow furrow is used for fixation of the ring to the vascular graft by sutures and the wider furrow used for fixation of the vascular graft to the aorta
Aorta
The aorta is the largest artery in the body, originating from the left ventricle of the heart and extending down to the abdomen, where it branches off into two smaller arteries...

by Dacron tapes. The tapes used to tie against the ring provide increased contact surface between the graft and the aorta than traditional stitches, thus provides stronger anastomosis and better surgical results. Further clinical experiences are being accumulated at some hospitals in Taiwan.
