It specializes in investment, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), real-estate and construction, business and corporate financing, banking, dispute resolution and arbitration, public private partnerships (PPP), project financing, competition, company law, contract law, labour law, insurance law, transport and logistic, bankruptcy and company liquidation law, litigation and arbitration, intellectual property law, European Union law, international trade law, telecommunication law as well as other fields of law, that have practical significance to business.

Management

Every national branch of VARUL is managed by separate managing partner: Gints Vilgerts manages office in Riga (Latvia), Helmut Pikmets – offices in Tallinn and Tartu (Estonia) and Robert Juodka – office in Vilnius (Lithuania).

History

The law firm Vilgerts was established in 2008 by Gints Vilgerts to focus on providing top quality legal services to local and international corporations (The firm was soon joined by two new partners, Debora Pavila and Julija Jerneva from Sorainen and so the firm gained competition law specialists).

The business law firms Smaliukas, Juodka, Beniusis & Partners (establ. 2007) of Lithuania (the Managing Partner Robert Juodka), Paul Varul of Estonia and Vilgerts in Latvia have merged their operations as of December 7, 2009, and up until the beginning of 2011 operated under the name Varul Vilgerts Smaliukas, the newly established company informed.

In 2011 Varul Vilgerts Smaliukas has merged with Law Firm Devyžis & Partners WILL in Lithuania and the firm now operates under the common brand VARUL.
