, with a prominent presence in the coastal region. Vaarthabharathi is a popular Kannada newspaper amongst the Kannadiga expatriates living in the Persian Gulf States.

Varthabharathi has a formidable readership in the entire coastal region of the state and its adjacent districts. It has already emerged as the largest circulated Kannada daily newspaper in the gulf region. This newspaper has won widespread admiration from various quarters for its fearless stand on several critical issues and also for the role it has played in carrying the true version of the events in many cases.

In its process of expanding, Vaartha Bhaarathi has launched its Bangalore edition on 29.08.2006 while commemorating its 3rd anniversary at N.G.O. Hall, Bangalore. With the commencement of the Bangalore edition the daily reached the capital of Karnataka, to cover Mysore, Mandya, Kolar, Chamarajpet, Chitradurga, Davangere districts.

Launch of Bangalore Edition

State academy award

Columnist Dr. T.S. Vivekananda's weekly articles Bhoomi geete was specially written down for Varthabharathi. These articles were lately published in book form and won Karnataka Literature Academy Award for the year 2005.

Dr. T.S. Vivekananda is a prominent ecologist in India, and has involved himself in the mass movements of Karnataka, like Peasant Movement, Dalit Movement, Feminist Movement. He took the prominent role in the movement aginest the water preservation in state.

Dr.vivekananda has released the Environment Monthly in Kannada, called IDU JEEVAMANDALA. this is the pioneer effort in Kannada Journlism.
More over he started the JEEVAMANDALA, the cadre based Environment Organisation, based in Thovinakere, Koratagere taluck, Tumkur district

Awards and recognitions

Vartha Bharathi has been awarded by Karnataka branch of Transparency International for its quality journalism. This newspaper gave voice to all marginalized sections of the society and in a few years has become the fastest growing newspaper of Karnataka.

Vartha Bharathi has also received Media of the Year award from Dubai based Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) during World Beary Convention & Chammana 2010 on 2 April 2010 in Dubai.
