His first studio album Sentimento sold 40,000 copies in the first week after its release in April 2009 and was certified gold. The title song reached number one on the Italian Singles Chart.

On 20 February 2010, he won the 60th edition of the televised Italian song contest, the Sanremo Music Festival with his song Per tutte le volte che. At the age of 19, this made him the youngest male winner in the history of the festival. He has released one EP, three albums and nine singles.

Career

Scanu made his first public debut as a singer in 1997 at the age of seven, appearing as a contestant on the television programme Canzone sotto l'albero, where he came in third place. In 2002, he participated in Bravo Bravissimo hosted by Mike Bongiorno

Scanu participated as a contestant in the 8th edition of the televised talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi, where he was instructed by voice teacher, Luca Jurman. In the finals, he came in second place, losing out to Alessandra Amoroso

, who was on the same blue team as Scanu and also received training by Jurman.

In January 2009 SonyBMG Italy released "Scialla", a compilation of the songs sung by the contestants of Amici di Maria De Filippi. in the album there are two songs by Scanu: "Can't Stop" and "Domani". The album reached number one on the Italian charts.
His first EP Sentimento was released on 10 April 2009 in Italy and digitally in Europe. It sold 40,000 copies in the first week after its release, and was certified gold in Italy. The title song Sentimento

In May 2009, the music video for the second single Dopo di Me was filmed, and on July 8, 2009 a cover of Listen by Beyoncé was released. In the same period he won at Wind Music Awards 2009 for Scialla's and Sentimento's sales.

First album

Scanu released his second, eponymous EP album in October 2009. It was gold disc for preorders and produced by Charlie Rapino. The first single released was Ricordati di Noi.

Parto Da Qui

On 9 November 2010 the third Valerio Scanu album, Parto Da Qui was published. It was preceded by the single Mio, which arrived eighth in the FIMI chart. Parto Da Qui reached the second position of the most sold albums in Italy.
The second single was L'amore cambia which also has a Fan Version.

On 15 April 2011 Parto da qui - Tour Edition was published, and arrived sixth in the FIMI chart. It was preceded by the single Due stelle.
