History

In 1958, Vagabond Motor Hotels, Inc, a California corporation, opened its first location in California. From the outset, Vagabond Inn was geared towards the value-conscious leisure and business traveler.

In order to offer business travelers in urban markets upgrades and more amenities, the Vagabond Inn Executive tier was launched. Vagabond Inn Executive locations typically feature upgraded rooms with more amenities, exercise rooms, and all offer free expanded continental breakfast.

In 1994, Vagabond Motor Hotel, Inc. and Imperial Hotel Corp. merged and branded the combined group of motels with the Vagabond Inn name.
The motto of the Vagabond Inn chain is “Great value. Friendly people.”
