The platforms for local trains are a combination of both island and individual platforms, designed to handle 15-car trains. A side track (often used for freight trains) is located between platforms 5 and 7.

Passenger statistics

An average of 35,416 passengers a day used the station in 2008, making it the busiest station in the Kita-Kanto region, and the third busiest station operated by JR East outside of Tokyo, Chiba, Saitama and Kanagawa (It is the 118th busiest station in terms of passenger volume if all of JR East's stations are considered). It is also the 11th highest income generating station with JR East's area (3rd if Tokyo, Chiba, Saitama and Kanagawa are excluded).
