It is one of the few colleges in the Philippines that offer internationally-recognized Economics programs, which were designed and are implemented by highly-trained faculty, many of whom are considered the best in their field both in the Philippines and in Asia. It is also the only institution in the country that has an active, internationally-recognized Ph.D. program in Economics.

The School of Economics is known for producing graduates who are prominent in the fields of economics, business, education, and politics. Included in the list are deans and officials of the School of Economics, officers of the Philippine's largest companies, entrepreneurs, economics professors in the Philippines and abroad, officials of the National Economic and Development Authority, and a president of the Philippines
