Ultra Music Festival is an annual outdoor electronic music
festival that occurs in March in the city of Miami usually during the annual Winter Music Conference
. It is held in Downtown Miami
in Bicentennial Park
. It was a 1-day festival from 1999-2006, a 2-day festival from 2007-2010, and was a 3-day festival in 2011. It is one of the highest grossing music festivals in the world. In 2011, over 100,000 people attended the event.
The first ever Ultra Music Festival was held as a one day event at the end of the Winter Music Conference
in 1999 with performances by Rabbit in the Moon
and DJ Baby Anne
. The event was held on South Beach

as a one day event, the festival was met with even more success and was renewed immediately for a third year.

. Each stage was accompanied with visual arts provided by VJs Vello Virkhaus, Psyberpixie, and Cozer. The festival sold out for the first time with over 100,000 attendees, where it was announced that the 13th annual event would take place over the course of three days in March 2011.
Early Bird pre-sale tickets for Ultra Music Festival 2012 sold out within 20 minutes (seconds according to the Ultra Music Festival Facebook Page) amidst crashing servers. Shortly thereafter, pre-sale tickets increased from $149 to $229.
As of now, ticket prices are in the "advanced stage" at $299.99 plus tax & shipping fees for three day general admission, and $599.99 for three days VIP admission.
