The school is a co-educational and college preparatory school founded in 1894. Trinity Catholic High School serves 235 students drawn from 48 communities across the Greater Boston area. The student body represents in excess of 60 ethnic backgrounds and is 50% minority. The majority of the Trinity Catholic faculty holds advanced degrees in secondary education or their specific discipline. The faculty/student ratio is approximately 1:14. In 2002, the school staged a production of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar that gained wide acclaim from the local community. The school features a fully integrated, campus wide wireless network, a small library, a computer lab, two lap-top carts for use in classrooms, and projectors in every classroom. Classes at Trinity often make use of these technologies to enhance the classroom experience with PowerPoint slide shows and other forms of media for the benefit of the student. Grades are tracked by the faculty and student body through an online system called PowerSchool. Teachers post all graded assignments on PowerSchool, where students can find out information about these assignments before they are due, and later the grade they got when the assignments are graded. PowerSchool essentially acts as a real-time report for students and parents. During the last quarter of their senior year, students at Trinity embark on a capstone month-long service project at local non-profit organizations such as schools and hospitals. Much more detailed information can be found on the web site.
