, from the 1950s through to the late 1970s. The art deco building hosted an afterhours jazz club with rehearsal bands for a while before it was bought and turned into a workout club, and then resold again. It was a key part of the 1950s Toronto
jazz scene.
One incident occurred when Jewish-Canadian bookmaker Max Bluestein was beaten outside the club by Hamilton mobster Johnny Papalia.
The building is not marked for historical purposes yet, unlike the spot where the Colonial Tavern
existed.
