Thorndale has a police force consisting of a Chief and three other full time officers, a fully staffed volunteer fire department and EMS service, and a full time volunteer police and fire department chaplain (that also serves the county and other area departments as needed). These services serve not only Thorndale but much of the surrounding rural area that is not served by Rockdale to the east and Taylor to the west.
