The Spirit Network

The Spirit Network is a Commercial Radio Network covering the Remote Areas of Western Australia. Formerly known as North West Radio, Spirit targets the 35+ Listeners with its Adult Contemporary format. Programming comes from its studios in Perth, Broome, Bunbury, Geraldton, Karratha and Hedland.

History

The Spirit network is part of the Redwave Media group, which also includes the Red FM

Currently owned by WA Newspapers Limited, it was launched statewide in the early 2000s as The Star Radio Network after being only a North West network with 6NW Hedland and 6KA Karratha having broadcast since the 1970s in the '90's it saw the launch of Brad March Austereo ceo's career, Brendan Jones now working on WSFM Sydney Breakfast and seen on 20 to 1 and "Bad boy" Ben Wasley Austereo network voice. It has since changed its name to The Spirit.

 stations, programming is predominantly based in WA. Local Spirit stations receive twice daily local news bulletins. Comprehensive statewide weather forecasts are provided on the hour. In Cyclone season, Spirit broadcasts warning updates.
