. To better its standing, the process of accreditation and affiliation with Anna University was initiated in 2007 and TPEC will become part of the Anna University system within the next 5 years. It offers Bachelors and Masters degrees in engineering to its 650+ student strength.

is one of the finest among private engineering colleges in Chennai with close to 30000 journals, technical books and newspapers from across the country.
. In a Bachelors degree, the first few trimesters consist of base engineering courses followed by the specialized courses in the later trimesters. This means that a student can finish a conventional 4 year Bachelors degree within 3.5 years in an ideal situation. Similarly for Masters Degree, the course is of 1.5 years duration. The trimesters start in June and end in March for the Masters programme. For the Bachelors degree, the course starts in June and ends in November, the final trimester being a research/industry-oriented project.
1. Free Seat: These students paid Rs. 10000 per academic year. These were usually students who scored highly in the Plus 2 & Entrance Exam admission criteria. (Approximately around 185/660 - OC/BC; 165/660 - MBC; 35/660 - SC/ST)
2. Payment Seats: These Students paid 70,000 per semester. These were usually students who had average scores in the Plus 2 & Entrance Exam admission criteria. (Approximately around 275/660).
This high reputation is determined by the number of students are board toppers at TPEC. This is a key indicator of how entering students at TPEC compare to those at other universities.
Several reputed companies visit for placement. At least 90% of the students are placed in campuses itself with the remaining opting for higher studies abroad or within India. Some illustrious students opt for the Masters programme with TPEC itself after which they take up a teaching position within the TPEC campuses at Chennai, Bangalore as faculty.
Recently, a satellite campus was opened at Bangalore
to forge stronger links with the I.T industry. This campus is being used to conduct industrial research and professional trainings. The faculty at Chennai are given an option to spend a 2 year rotation at this campus after which they move back to the Chennai head-campus.
