Millennium Centre Life

Year 12s and Year 13s at the Millennium Centre have a two week timetable (Week A and Week B).
A typical weekly timetable for a Year 12 student would be structured as follows:
Monday DMCSC Tuesday LCS Wednesday DMCSC Thursday LCS Friday LCS
Subject A Double Tutor Period; Study Period Subject D Double Subject C Double Subject B Double
Subject B Double Subject D Double Subject C Double Subject A Single; Free Period Subject A Double
Subject C Single Subject B Single Enrichment Free Period Subject D Single


A typical timetable for a Year 13 student would be structured similarly with the exception of Enrichment being on Friday, Period 3. 'Home Study' or the double free periods are also on Fridays; Periods 4 and 5 in Year 13.

Curriculum

All students at The Millennium Centre study 4 AS courses in Year 12 and continue with 3 or 4 A2 courses in Year 13. The following courses are currently offered:
Art; Biology; Business Studies; Chemistry; Computing; Design and Technology ; Drama; English Language and Literature; English Literature; French; Geography; Geology; German; History; Information Technology; Mathematics (with Statistics or Mechanics); Further Mathematics; Use of Maths (at AS only); Media Studies; Music; Panjabi; Physical Education; Physics; Psychology; Religious Studies; Sociology; Textiles; Urdu

Enrichment

All students are expected to participate in a wide range of enrichment activities throughout their two years. The choices currently include: Community Sports Leaders Award; Drama; Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award; Salsa; First Aid; Self Defence; Paired Reading; In Class Support; Survival Cookery; Sport; Work Experience; Counselling; Spanish; Art and Media. In addition, the Millennium Centre work closely with the Derby youth volunteer group “Vinvolved”,encouraging all students to enrol in order to achieve 200 hours of voluntary work within their wider community.
