The current headteacher is Ashok Venkatesh, replacing David Nichols in September 2010 on a temporary basis and and then being made permanent in the role in March 2011.

Buildings

Originally designed by a cinema architect the school has under gone many extensions as the number of pupils has grown.
The school covers a vast amount of area. It refers to these buildings as blocks, there are many different blocks such as

A Block: the main science building

B Block: humanities and ICT

C Block: art, technology and music

D Block: English and maths

E Block: languages

J Block: art and technology

K Block: IT Suites

L Block: Religious Education and languages and PSHE

The naming of the blocks is alphabetical however some letters have been omitted. It is thought that J block was named after Ian Jennison, a long-serving technology teacher at the school who retired in 2008.
