, England. Founded in 1987, Kingstone provides secondary education to pupils aged 11–16. Formed by the amalgamation of Broadway Grammar School with adjacent Charter Comprehensive during restructuring of the British education system, Kingstone has a capacity of approximately 1,500 making it one of the largest schools in the area.

In September 2012, Kingstone amalgamates with Holgate School to form an Advanced Learning Centre based on a new site on Dodworth road (formerly the site of S R Gents).

Management

The Head Teacher from 2003 to 2011 was Matthew Milburn, who succeeded the original head of the school David J. Richards in September 2003.

The acting joint heads are I Ellam and P Gallagher for 2011-12, the final academic year of the school's existence.

Academic performance

Kingstone achieves consistently good GCSE results for the area, with 60% of the class of 2000–2007 achieving GCSE grades A*–C. This is very favourable on local league tables.

Under Local Authority education restructuring, Kingstone faces closure by 2012, with work on a new "Learning Centre" beginning on the site and the nearby Holgate School

  • Year 7: Green
  • Year 8: Black
  • Year 9: Blue
  • Year 10:Yellow
  • Year 11: Grey (with school Coat of Arms) with prefect badge if achieved

Sport

A large community sports centre opened on the school site in October 2006, although the school is to be demolished to make way for the new school (made up of a joining of Kingstone school and Holgate school), meaning this multi-million pound sports hall will have only been a part of the school for five-seven years, as building work starting dates are uncertain. On a related note, the school supports a community in Uganda, Africa, raising two-thousand pounds to build a new school there, while building themselves a pre-mentioned sports hall, which was never needed in the first place.

It has a multifunctional purpose and is also used as an area for the schools physical education activities.
