The Global Open University is an Indian university established in 2006 in Dimapur
, Nagaland
. It has been established under the provisions of The Global Open University Act 2006 (Act 3 of 2006) of the Government of Nagaland with a view to introducing vocational, job oriented and employment centric education in the North-East in general and in the State of Nagaland in particular. .
The University has operated since April 2007 from Dimapur
, in a campus allotted by the Government of Nagaland
. The university's campus was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Hon'ble Shri Neiphiu Rio
on 5 June 2007. Two other campuses have subsequently been launched at Wokha
and Kohima

-approved syllabus, for all courses as per UGC-approved nomenclatures. It offers students independent study, with flexibility in terms of place, pace and duration of study. The university provides an international student support services network, and provides scholarships for needy and intelligent students.
venture between the Government of Nagaland and an international charity: the World Institution Building Programme (WIBP), incorporated as a public charitable trust. The state government gives grants-in-aid to sponsor the students from Nagaland by paying their fee, and the WIBP as the sponsoring agency for the university provides Rs. 7 Crore as the Corpus Fund in the name of The Global Open University. The WIBP has also kept a reserve of Rs. 8 Crore for developing the campus of the university for the current financial year. More funds have been assured by the WIBP for the overall growth of the University.

The university also offers short-term online certificate courses apart from its distance education degree courses.
