The Education Channel broadcasts in Baltimore County on Comcast Cable channel 73 (formerly channel 36) and on Verizon channel 34 in Baltimore and Harford counties in Maryland.

The Education Channel is a former programming partner (1990s) of the now-defunct Paramount EMS service, providing educational television programming to schools across the country. John Chester's Rap it Out was one of the main series featured on this national service while Network Underground was syndicated to PBS stations across the country. The co-host of this series, Christopher Legg, went on to guest-star in a number of television series and films before his death in 2003 from an automobile accident.

The Education Channel partnered with Cable-in-the-Classroom and provided programming from cable channels such as the History Channel prior to their launch on the Comcast Cable System.

The main function of the Education Channel is to provide instructional television to schools within the Baltimore County Public School System, but its wide variety of educational and intellectual programming has helped it develop a strong following in the entire community which is able to view it on cable.
