History

The studio was purpose built 6 feet into the ground to allow for all the necessary sound proofing and acoustic treatment to take place without imposing on the surrounding buildings. Taking just under a year to complete, the studio comprises three rooms. Breaking with normal recording studio design standards, the studios control room and mixing environment is also the main live area. The other two rooms are vocal booths, with one also housing the machinery.

Equipment

The Chapel Studios control room is based around the SSL Duality Console. The Duality is Solid State Logic’s flagship model and features the same circuitry as the E, G and K series consoles that earned SSL the legendary reputation that they have. Modernizations such as DAW control, dual mic-pre’s on each channel using both the beautifully clean SuperAnalogue and Variable Harmonic Distortion (valve or transistor) circuits on every channel and TFT meter displays.

Other hardware includes the Lexicon 960L, which provides incredibly realistic sounding acoustic environments as well as allowing the creation of new and unheard spaces, the Crane Song Ibis EQ to bring out the most stunning sonic qualities from the mix and two Universal Audio 1176s, one of the all time classic pieces of audio equipment for beautiful analogue compression.
