Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) was created in 1877, when 40 Texas
cattlemen joined together out of their common interest to end unbridled livestock theft and formed what was to become Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.
Today's association acts as an industry trade group
composed of cattle
producers and operators of all sizes located primarily in Texas
and Oklahoma
as well as other businesses which are dedicated to the betterment of the industry. Twenty-nine livestock theft investigators, "special rangers", employed by the association have law enforcement authority in Texas and Oklahoma in recovering stolen livestock. TSCRA deals with legislative and regulatory issues, beef quality assurance, and rancher education. They hold local meetings, an annual convention, and an annual trade show. They also publish a monthly magazine for their members, The Cattleman.
