The Mall at Templeton

In July-September 2011, the 50 acres of land off the ramp and at Exit 19 at the intersection of Massachusetts Route 2, Route 2a and Route 202 was permitted for 270,000 square feet of commercial/retail use. Part of the land for the site is in Phillipston so the site gains regional status in the eyes of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and as a result, “The Mall At Templeton” would have the designation of a regional mall. The project is designed to accommodate a big box retailer, grocery store, drug store and a gas station that will have a Dunkin' Donuts

. In addition, there will be a a convenience store, a car wash and diesel truck stop along with other smaller retail users and this would include local business here in town that wants to expand and grow their already thriving business. The assessors in Templeton estimate that the site, when built out, may realize real estate revenue to the Town of approx $200,000 per year. Construction jobs for infrastructure work could result in 50 jobs, the build out of the buildings on the site may result in 100 jobs and these numbers are approximations as these constructions jobs during the build out phase will be temporary. Ultimately, when the entire project is completed the results could be 250-300 full and part time jobs.
