Accounting Operations

The mission of this program is to teach students to record, summarize, analyze and control financial data into a single process and apply this process to financial activities.

Adult Heartsaver CPR

This course is for individuals seeking general knowledge of CPR. For adult healthcare
assistance or workplace safety.

Adult, Child and Infant CPR

This course is for individuals seeking general knowledge of CPR, and persons acquiring these skills for child care service, or any non-healthcare provider area or position.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support

This course is strictly for persons already certified in Healthcare Provider CPR, and are either a Nurse, Paramedic, Doctor, or Healthcare Professional. Applicant must show current HCP certification at registration. Requires a working knowledge of basic life support & EKG.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Recertification

This course is strictly for persons already certified in Healthcare Provider CPR, and ACLS and are either a Nurse, Paramedic, or Doctor seeking to renew their certification. Applicant must show current HCP & ACLS certification at registration.

Architectural Drafting (CAD)

The mission of this program is to prepare students for employment in the architectural drafting industry.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The mission of the Health Science Education Department is to provide high quality education and training that empowers students to successfully pass the State of Florida licensure/certification examinations, to provide safe, quality care to patients/residents in a diverse cultural community, and to pursue a life-enhancing career in healthcare.

Certified Nursing Assistants perform a variety of duties to help care for patients in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and psychiatric facilities, all under the supervision of nurses and medical staff. Training includes instruction in anatomy and physiology, body mechanics, nutrition, infection control, communication skills, resident rights, as well as personal care skills. The CNA class at TECO is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. When students complete the course they are qualified to sit for the Florida Certified Nursing Assistant exam.

Correctional Officer

The mission of this program is to provide correctional officer recruits with the most extensive, relevant, and comprehensive training in order to prepare them for a challenging and rewarding career in criminal justice.

Culinary Arts

The mission of this program is to prepare students for entry-level positions in the Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts fields.

The Commercial Foods and Culinary Arts Program prepares students for employment in restaurants, hotels, and resorts as cooks and provides additional training for those who wish to upgrade culinary and management skills necessary for becoming chefs. Included are the following major areas of training: food preparation and serving, baking, identification, storage, selection, and presentation of a wide variety of foods, communication skills, leadership skills, human relations, safe and efficient work practices, use and maintenance of commercial food service equipment, food purchasing, food costing, employability skills, entrepreneurship, and American Culinary Federation courses in sanitation, nutrition, supervision, and management. This program is competency based.
Laboratory (kitchen) activities are integral part of this program. These activities provide instruction in the use of tools, equipment, materials, and processes found in the food service industry. Additionally, this program articulates with Valencia Community College and Johnson & Wales University.
Upon completion of this course, students may obtain certificates in: Bus Person/Waiter, Steward, Salad Person, Utility Cook, Breakfast Cook, Line Cook, and Pastry Cook.

Digital Design

The mission of this program is to provide students with the positive life habits and business skills needed to succeed in the digital desktop publishing and graphic design industry. Students will gain the technical expertise to create a wide variety of graphic and publishing materials.

This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in digital publishing positions. The content includes enhanced practical experiences in computer generated art and text, graphic design, graphic production, electronic design skills, preparation of electronic layouts and illustrations, and electronic scanning and development of skills in multimedia presentation. The program stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the digital publishing industry: planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles or technology and design.

Upon completion of the course, students may obtain certification in: Information Technology Assistant, Production Assistant, Digital Assistant Designer, Graphic Designer, and Multimedia Designer.

Electricity

The mission of this program is to ensure all learners acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to succeed in the electrical field.

The electricity program is designed to prepare students for beginning employment as an electrician’s helper and progress through journeyman and master electrician training. Placement is possible with a participating electrical contractor using a formal apprenticeship program. Job opportunities are also available in residential, commercial and industrial settings.

Skills obtained through the program are: workplace safety, upgraded math skills, troubleshooting, job ethics and logical thinking. This program is competency based.

Upon completion of this course, students may obtain certificates in: Electrician Helper, Residential Electrician and Commercial Electrician.

Firefighting Academy

Currently this program is available to secondary students. In the future it will be available to post-secondary students. Students that are enrolled in this program will have the unique opportunity to complete a majority of the requirements to become a certified firefighter in the State of Florida. Students will complete their Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC), and Level 1 Firefighting Standards. Upon graduation or when the student turns 18 they will be able to complete Level 2 Firefighting Standards, which will satisfy the requirements set by the State of Florida full time employment. Another option for interested students is to complete the State of Florida Paramedic certification program.

First Aid

This course is for individuals seeking basic first aid training and will meet most job
requirements.

Healthcare Provider CPR

This course is for individuals required to obtain CPR skills as a Nurse, EMT, Paramedic, Physical Therapist or as any other individuals providing healthcare as a career.

Healthcare Recertification CPR

This course is designed for medical personnel already certified in CPR and looking to update their certification. Previous certificate must be within 6 months of expiration date, and must be shown at registration.

Home Health Aide

The mission of the Health Science Education Department is to provide high quality education and training that empowers students to successfully pass the State of Florida licensure/certification examinations, to provide safe, quality care to patients/residents in a diverse cultural community, and to pursue a life-enhancing career in healthcare.

TECO’s Home Health Aide program instructs students to help elderly, convalescent, or disabled persons live in their own homes instead of in a health facility. Under the direction of nursing or medical staff, they provide health-related services, such as administering oral medications. Like CNA’s, home health aides may check patients’ pulse rates, help with simple prescribed exercises, keep patients rooms neat, and help patients move from bed, bathe, dress, and groom. Occasionally, they change non-sterile dressings, give massages and alcohol rubs, or assist with braces and artificial limbs. Experienced home health aides also may assist with medical equipment such as ventilators, which help patients breathe.

HVACR

The mission of this program is to prepare students for employment as Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technicians and to provide advanced training to the heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration industry.
