Tanana (soil)


The Tanana soil consists of shallow, well drained, moderately permeable soils formed in materials weathered from limestone
Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed largely of the minerals calcite and aragonite, which are different crystal forms of calcium carbonate . Many limestones are composed from skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as coral or foraminifera....

. They are gently sloping to very steep soils on foot slopes and side slopes of limestone hills. Slopes range from 2 to 60 percent. The mean annual precipitation is about 70 inches (177.8 cm) and the mean annual temperature is about 76 degrees F.
