Tam made his professional debut as a fighter in 2006 when faced and defeated Jon Gafney in the first round at the UWC 1 event by TKO
. He faced Arunas Adriuskevicus in 2008 at the UWC 6 event and experienced his first loss through TKO in the second round. Tam followed this defeat with three wins, one against Brazilian Fabio Ferrari at UWC 8. He proceeded to defeat two more opponents at the Cage Rage
grand prix, Billy Mahoney and Ben Craggy, however he lost in the final against professional boxer Jamie Hearn. Approximately a month later he defeated Jake Silva via TKO at the Extreme Mixed Martial Arts Championships event.
In 2010 Tam competed in the ADFC: Round 1
event where he defeated Evasio D'Onforio via a KO in the opening seconds of the third round.

Among his VIP clients is HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (son of the ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
) who received a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
from Royce Gracie in January 2011.
