In early 2006, drummer Alex left the band due to creative and personal issues. During a brief hiatus, Dirk Verbeuren
of Soilwork
and Scarve
agreed to do session drums while Sybreed recorded their next album. After production was completed, Kevin Choiral was confirmed as the new permanent drummer for the band.
On July 7, 2007, it was announced that the band had signed a deal with Listenable Records for a European release of their new album Antares
in October of that same year. The album was released in the United States much later on August 15, 2008, but included a bonus track, "Plasmaterial".
On June 29, 2009, Sybreed's official website announced that the band and their bassist, Burn, would part ways.
Although originally stated on the website that Burn would still participate in their US tour beginning on July 17, 2009, he did not make the trip to the United States and instead they enlisted bass player Hector Gonzalez of Los Angeles, California, thrash band Flatline as a temporary bassist to complete the United States tour. At the completion of the tour, in an update on their website dated August 31, 2009, Sybreed confirmed Stephane Grand as being their new permanent bass player.
The band released their third studio album The Pulse of Awakening
in Europe on November 16, 2009.
On April 7, 2010, Sybreed's song "Doomsday Party" was released as a downloadable track for Rock Band (video game).
It was announced on October 9th on the official website that the band would embark on their first ever Australian tour with main support act Anno Domini (band).

Sybreed was formed in 2003 by vocalist Benjamin and guitarist Drop, after they previously worked together in a band, called Rain. In 2004, Sybreed released their debut album Slave DesignSlave Design
