Superpedia is an Indonesian education dictionary and encyclopedia. Initiated by Rumah Ilmu Indonesia Foundation. Started at 19 October 2008.

 software. At end of January 2010, the number of articles reach 30,000 entries and growing fast. At end of January 2011, the number of articles reach almost 70,000 with almost 110,000 pages. It is predicted to be a largest Indonesia collaborative education dictionary.

This encyclopedia arranges the main page with educational categories, like biology, physics and mathematics. Written in Bahasa Indonesia. Like other collaborative encyclopedias, it is free to access.

Project background and socialization

Superpedia project was created to ameliorate the digital literacy gap on Indonesia. From 230 million of its population, the internet can be accessed only about 20 million people. The availability of digital dictionary and encyclopedia is expected to help teachers to improve their knowledge. To solve this problem, Superpedia is also distributed freely on CD and DVD.

Development scheme

Superpedia is designed to include a variety of Indonesia local content, such as Indonesian local languages, including, for example, Sundanese and Javanese.

The scheme of Superpedia development was released on 2009.

On 1 October 2010 Superpedia was moved to Rumah Ilmu Indonesia local server at Bandung

Donation and sponsorship

Because Superpedia is a non profit project, it depends on mainly on donations from users. In Early 2010, PT. Intel Indonesia became the first company to support Superpedia.
