 with the Institute of British Geographers). Interdisciplinary collaboration is a continuing hallmark of The GEES Subject Centres' work and approach.

The Subject Centre aims to improve the learning and teaching experiences of everyone in these disciplines in Higher Education Institutions in the UK and is a national and international hub in the exchange of knowledge on learning and teaching across the three disciplines. It provides a voice for these communities, contributing to government consultations and policy developments. The Centre has a national UK-wide brief and this is reflected in the locations of its activities and events. Its activities include:
  • National Conferences
  • Departmental workshops
  • An annual New Lecturers' Workshop
  • Project funding
  • On-line Resource database
  • Publications including our journal, Planet
  • Support for the individual disciplines through the subject-based Senior Advisors
