In 1988 he started 14 of the 16 games, and led the Cowboys in passing by passing for 3,139 yards and 17 touchdowns, but the Cowboys finished just 3-13 (3-11 in his starts), and Pelluer's career as a Cowboy was over. Pelluer spent the 1989 season as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs
. After his NFL playing days were over, Pelluer went on to play in the WLAF
