After spending a couple of days back with his home club, Gleeson returned on loan to Stockport County on 26 March 2008 until the end of the 2007/08 season

His association with Stockport continued again during the 2008/09 season as he spent the first half of the campaign on loan again with them. He returned to his parent club but again went out on loan, this time to League One

He subsequently joined the MK Dons on a permanent basis on 1 July 2009 in a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
