Stan Swanson is an American author, publisher and musician. He is the creator of Stony Meadow Publishing, and its horror imprint, Dark Moon Books. He is also the editor-in-chief of Dark Moon Digest: the Horror Fiction Quarterly
. He currently lives in Largo, Florida
, with his wife, Joy.
, and has lived most of his life in Colorado. When he was 8 years old, he had a poem published in the local paper. In high school he won a literary award for his poetry and also served as the entertainment editor of his school newspaper. After school, he was drafted into the army for three years; most of his time being stationed in Germany.
After his brief military occupation, Stan went on to work for a Denver area newspaper by stretching the truth during an interview. “I finally got a job doing layout and paste-up for a small Black newspaper in Denver by telling them I knew all about layout and paste-up (whatever that was).” Three months later, he had managed to get promoted to editor.
In 1985, he formed Computer Publications Unlimited and published a magazine called The Computer Connection, which lasted for several years.
Along with holding a various collection of odd jobs throughout his life, Stan has also been an avid singer/songwriter since a young age—going as far as writing and publishing two books on the subject: Inspiration for Songwriters and The Songwriter’s Journal.

In addition, Stan has branched Dark Moon Books out into a quarterly literature journal called Dark Moon Digest

He is currently putting together a flash fiction
anthology titled Slices of Flesh that will be launched at the 2012 World Horror Convention
. It will feature stories by well-known authors such as Jack Ketchum
and Jonathan Maberry
, with a cover design created by Mike Mignola
. All proceeds will be going to charity.

Writing/Publishing Career
After receiving too many rejection letters for work, Stan opted to form his own publishing company, Stony Meadow Publishing. Under this title he published two music books and two young adult books. Soon thereafter he created an imprint for horror publishing called Dark Moon Books, where he published a collection of his own short stories called Forever Zombie.
