Stadium Village is a planned light rail
station on the Central Corridor
line on the University of Minnesota
campus in Minneapolis
. According to a preliminary engineering draft from June 2010, it will be located east of 23rd Avenue Southeast between University Avenue
and 4th Street, across the road from TCF Bank Stadium
and a short distance south of the University of Minnesota Transitway.
East of this station, the rail line will parallel the transitway until 29th Street Southeast, where it will turn toward University Avenue. Construction of the line along the transitway began in 2011, with construction of the station planned to start in 2012. The station is expected to open along with the rest of the line by 2014.
