. It is the oldest college in Srinagar locally known as SP College. Established in year 1905 by then Ruler of Jammu and Kashmir Shri Maharaja Pratap Singh.

The college offers a range of nationally and internationally recognized undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a variety of academic disciplines including Science and Information Technology. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission of India,(UGC). It is affiliated to University of Kashmir

The college has celebrated its centenary year in 2005, and in this year people from the world participated in the college function, as the different departments of the college organized different workshops and exhibitions.

This is one of the best colleges in the valley,and students from this college are very competent and innovative minded. It was managed by British during early times,and has a very good impact on the education in the valley. It is totally a science college, and students dream of getting admission in this college. It has a very well managed playground, and students enjoy their spirit of sports in the ground. The faculty of this college are quite innovative, and the principal of this college is acting as the director of higher education in the valley.
Most of the students are from Srinagar and Budgam district not from any other villages.

S.P College is the first college in the kashmir valley which became NO POLYTHENE ZONE in 2010. Faculty is very experienced,because most of the famous teachers and lecturers of kashmir valley are posted here and under their guidance, S.P.college gives rise to an intelligent youth for the kashmir valley. S.P.college is Heritage of Kashmir.
