Speedway National League
Encyclopedia
The National League was the top division of Speedway
in the United Kingdom
from 1932 until 1965 when it became known as the British League
. Prior to 1932 there were only small regional leagues competing within the sport in the UK. The National League was re-incarnated in 1975 as the second division of Speedway
in the United Kingdom
when British League Division Two
was renamed. After 1990, British League Division Two
was re-instated and the National League ceased to exist. The National League was re-incarnated for the second time in 2009 as the third division of Speedway
in the United Kingdom
when the Conference League
was renamed. It will follow the same rules and regulations as the Premier
and Elite League
, including the use of rider averages.
