History

The Southern District Oilers Gridiron Club was established in 1985, then known as the "Longhorns", was one of the first four competitive teams in South Australia.
After four long hard years trying to compete and promote the sport, the Longhorns helped the league grow and took on a large sponsor the Oil Refinery. With the new Sponsor came name change in 1989 became the fearsome "OILERS"!.
After competing in in several Grand Finals finishing just short of the grand prize, the Oilers took home the Grand Final in 2005.
Its been a long time between drinks Oilers!!!! Time to get another one!.
