In 2008, Skarstedt discovered the poetic art of moviemaking and has since added over thirty short productions — many of which find their inspiration within the urban auspices of Montreal, Quebec — to YouTube
's Skarwood Channel.
On July 31, 2009, Skarstedt lost her battle with ovarian cancer, 26 months after diagnosis and treatments.
