. The event consists of six races in a six day time span. The distance covered in every race is 100 laps on a 400m track. Starting in 2002, the women's race was no longer a six day event, but has had editions of three, four and five days.

Brussels sprout suit

In the first race, the winner of the previous year wears a brussels sprout suit. Riders collect points based on their finishing positions. In the following races the suit is worn by the leader of the competition, similar to the yellow jersey
