after their contract with Gull Records was terminated, as a consequence of which they lost all rights to Rocka Rolla

, and any other demo recordings made during the production of the two albums. The album features session drummer Simon Phillips
, as the band had recently parted ways with drummer Alan Moore

". It was remastered in 2001, with two bonus tracks added. One of those tracks, "Race With The Devil", was originally intended to appear on the album in place of "Diamonds & Rust". Producer

fame) convinced the band to include "Diamonds & Rust", saying that "[i]t would fit along with the rest of the album better." The title of the album is mentioned in the song "Genocide", a track from the band's previous album Sad Wings of Destiny

On the 2008 tour for the Nostradamus
album, Judas Priest played several songs which were never played live before, or songs which had not been played for a long time. From this album, they played "Dissident Aggressor", which had never been performed live before, and "Sinner", a former mainstay of the live set but which had not been played since 1988.
This was the band's last album to feature the "gothic cursive font" logo (though it has since been reused on reissues/compilations of the band's early career).
