The Simister Village Community Association formed in 2000 is in the process of developing a 10 acre wetland site. It has installed stone paths at a cost of £30,000 funded by grants obtained by the Committee. Woodland maintenance will be carried out during the winter using further grants. St George's Church in Simister, part of the Parish of St Margaret in Prestwich was built during the First World War. The local Parochial Council is finding that the running costs of St George's Church are in need of voluntary subscriptions to help maintain its existence. Members of the SVCA Committee are refurbishing the 150 year old Lady Wilton Hall owned as a charity by the Parochial Council.
