. Most of the low-rise apartment blocks in Siilitie district were built in the 1950s, but a few taller buildings as well were erected in the 1990s. Siilitie road begins from Herttoniemi industrial area and Itäväylä, and joins Viikintie in the north. The image of the district has been somewhat rough by Finnish standards during the past few decades, but is improving.
