Shen Shaomin's art has the theme of death. Not only does he create a very realistic human corpse but he also uses glue and real bones to create a variety of make believe creatures.
He creates the skeletal structure of made up creatures by creating a 'hybrid' mixture from many bones from animals. Often named 'unknown creature 1' his work leaves the audience
to uncover what they think the creatures look like. What colours would it possess? What colours would it have? The creatures Shaomin creates have such a wide range from large to small, from eight legged giants to centaurs.
