Shadow Huntaz

Shadow Huntaz are a 5 piece experimental hip hop
group notable for their releases on Skam Records
label and for their use of online file sharing
to distribute their work.
They were originally formed by a trio of MC's, Breaff (a/k/a Shadow 1), Dream (a/k/a/ Shadow 2) and Non (a/k/a Shadow 3 or Nongenetic), all of whom are based in different cities in the US, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles respectively. For their first full-length release on Skam, Corrupt Data , they were joined by brothers Don and Roel Funcken from The Netherlands who also perform under the name Funckarma. The brothers had originally approached them to do some remixes but this evolved into a full collaboration, undertaken through file sharing over the internethttp://www.gridface.com/features/funcky.html.
Sounds created by the Funcken brothers would be passed amongst the group members to be reworked or added to http://www.tinymixtapes.com/musicreviews/s/shadow_huntaz.htm. The same approach was taken for the follow-up, also on Skam, Valley Of The Shadows and a handful of EPs including Vampire. Both albums are also available in instrumental form, highlighting the contributions of the Funcken brothers, who are prolific outwith Shadow Huntaz, continuing to release material as Funckarma as well as adopting aliases such as Quench, Cane, Scone (with Kettel), Automotive, Legiac (with Cor Bolten), Dif:use (as well with Cor Bolten) and Cenik. http://www.discogs.com/artist/Funckarma.
