Darts career

Waites' first career success came in February 2007 when he won the Dutch Open an event which attracted 2867 entries. He also took the Welsh Masters title in March 2007 and earlier reached the final of the 2007 Scottish Open.

Scotts biggest success to date came in November 2009 at the Grand Slam of Darts, held at Wolverhampton Civic Centre, where he made the final. He was beaten 16-2 by PDC world number one Phil Taylor. This earned Waites £50,000, the biggest prize of his career so far.

Personal life

He currently resides in Huddersfield

 with partner Sally and their son Michael. Sally was seriously ill during most of 2010, which was believed to have been a major factor in Waites's decision to continue playing in the BDO rather than turn professional and join the PDC.

Waites is not a full-time professional player and he earns his full-time living as a carpenter for the council linked Pennine Housing 2000, Calderdale.
