History

The Bamberg bishop Berthold von Leiningen (1257–1285) acquired the castle and the village of Schönbrunn in 1280. The Amt established here was bit by bit slowly incorporated into the Amt of Burgebrach between the early 16th and mid 18th century. As part of the High Monastery at Bamberg, it passed with the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 to Bavaria

. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, today’s community came into being under the Gemeindeedikt (“Community Edict”) of 1818.

Population development

Within municipal limits, 1,793 inhabitants were counted in 1970, 1,732 in 1987 and 1,887 in 2000. On 30 June 2007, 1,932 inhabitants were counted. Over the next two and a half years, the population shrank slightly and on 31 December 2006 it was 1,902.

Furthermore, in 1999, there were 56 agricultural operations with a working area of 1 118 ha, of which 982 ha was cropland and 199 ha was meadowland.

Johannes1 Pleffner, born 1718; died 4 Mar 1776 in Zettmannsdorf, Bamberg, Bayern, son of Unknown Pleffner. He married in 1738/40 in Zettmannsdorf, Bamberg, Bayern Helena Nn, born 1716; died 20 Sep 1779 in Zettmannsdorf, Bamberg, Bayern.

The Grunthaler, Cammerer, and Fleischmann, families, appear to be leading contenders for possible relatives. They come from out of town, at about the same time that Helena and Johannes Pleffner arrive in Zettmansdorf.

Children of Johannes Pleffner and Helena Nn were as follows:

i Cunigunda2 Pfleffner, born 31 Jul 1740 in Oberneuses, Bamberg, Bayern; died 31 Jan 1745 in Zettmannsdorf, Bamberg, Bayern. Notes: Zettmannsdorf /Schönbrunn Record Fiche 27, Band 2/10, Page 171 * 31 Juli 1740, Oberneuses ~ 1 August 1740 Cunigunda, legitimate Daughter from Joannis Pflüges textonis (weaver) from here, and Helena his wife, Godmother is Cunigundis, Daughter from Michaelis Grünthaler over Zettmannsdorf Band 2, Page 444, Fiche 39 + 31. Jan. 1745, Zettmannsdorf ß You have the Birthday Cunegund, Daughter from Joes Pflegtscher, Textonis, 5 ½, Years. Only a few records of Grunthaler in the town, Michael probably came from somewhere else. No Grunthaler born in Schonbrunn 1720 to 1787. No Grunthaler married 1720 to 1787 Three Grunthaler die in Schonbrunn 1720 to 1787, Cunigunda, page 445, Friedrich 428, and MIchael 438. MIchael cannot be found. In 23 March 1747, Cunigunda Grunthaler dies, age 74, so she is born 1673. 1730, 24 September, age 70, dies Frederick Grunthaler, so born about 1660. They are not in the Schonbrunn family history book, so the family must have come from somewhere else.

ii Appollonia2 Pfleffner, born 8 Dec 1742 in Zettmannsdorf, Bamberg, Bayern. Notes: Zettmannsdorf /Schönbrunn Record Fiche 27, Band 2/10, Page 173 * 08.12.1742, Zettmannsdorf ~ 08.12.1742 Apollonia, Jois Pfleffzger, Textoris and Eleonora his wife. Godmother Appollonia, P: Joes Cämmerer Landlord p.m. in Niderdorff, daughter unmarried. The Name from the mother is wrong. Niederndorf, Gemeinde: Schönbrunn Bamberg Oberfranken Schönbrunn 1722, Nidendorf, was baptized Appollonia, daughter of Johann Cammerer (with umlaut over a), and mother Cunegunda, witness Appollonia daughter of George Muller of Schonbrunn. the death of John Cammerer is on page 434. He dies in Niderndorff on 25 April 1736, age 45, which makes for a date of birth of 1691, which would make him the right age to be the father of Helena.

iii Dorothea2 Pfleffner, born 27 Nov 1745 in Zettmannsdorf, Bamberg, Bayern. Notes: Zettmannsdorf /Schönbrunn Record Fiche 27, Band 2/10, Page 189 * 27.11.1745, Zettmannsdorf ~ 27.11.1745 Dorothea, daughter from Joes Pleffter, textoris (weaver) and Helena. Godmother is Dorothea Commerer wife from Michaelis Eichhorn. they were married 5 February 1742. page 27 Michael Eichhorn, son of George Eichmorn p. m. and Catherina, married with Dorothea, daughter Jois Cammerer p. m., Niderndorf. This is the same godmother as for Appollonia, but she is now married.

iv Johannes2 Pfleffner, born 4 Jan 1749 in Zettmannsdorf, Bamberg, Bayern. Notes: Zettmannsdorf /Schönbrunn Record Fiche 28, Band 2/11, Page - * 04.01.1749, Zettmannsdorf ~ 04.01.1749 Joannes, leg. Son from Joey Pflefftler, textoris and Helene his wife. Godfather is Joes Georg Fleischmann from Oberneuses. + 18.01.1749

v Paul2 Pleffner, born 20 Apr 1750 in Zettmannsdorf, Bamberg, Bayern; died 16 May 1827 in Oberneuses, Bamberg, Bayern. He married Cunigunda Bickel.

vi Gertrude2 Pleffner, born 29 Jul 1753 in Zettmannsdorf; died 7 Mar 1756 in Zettmannsdorf. Notes: Godmother of Gertrude Pleffner is Gertrude Fleischmann of Oberneues. She was the daughter of George Fleischmann, and she was born 12 March 1734. Parents are John and Helene Pleffner. George Fleischmann was born 1698, and married 1732 to Anna Maria Rodlein. Marriage of George is on page 16. They are from Trunstadt. There are Rodlein family in the town. Checked the marriage register, there is no record of a Pleffner being married in Trunstadt from 1686 to 1742, also there is also some Fleischmann.
