 died during the Volta a Catalunya. Three years earlier, José Antonio Espinosa another Fuenlabrada member, died after a traffic accident during a training. Morales suffered the same fate as his teammates. In 2000, during the Tour of Argentina, he was hit by a truck that accidentally came between the riders.
